Jazz Band
Congratulations to our Silver Sands Jazz Bands for both of their Superior Performances on Saturday April 23rd at the Lakeside Jazz Festival. Beta Jazz Saxophones were best section and Christian Pomar was best soloist. They then got to work with Major Bailey, a 2 time Grammy nominated jazz trombonist with a career playing for the US Army Jazz Ambassadors and the pop swing ensemble led by artist Paul Anka. Alpha Jazz ensemble best sections went to the Trombones and Rhythm section, with best soloist awarded to Jacob Miller. They then worked with Dr. Jim Smisek from Seminole State College. The weather was beautiful, food was great, and music was incredible.

Girls Volleyball Team
Our Girls Volleyball program will be starting in mid-August. If you are interested in your daughter trying out for varsity (15 girls) or JV (15 girls) teams, please contact Coach Deig as soon as possible. Her email is amdeig@volusia.k12.fl.us
The season starts in mid-September. Games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 5:30. The season will last five weeks. We will be playing games against the other five middle schools on the east side of Volusia. We will have one home game and one away game each week.
Boys and Girls Cross-Country Team
Our Boys/Girls Cross Country team will start practice in the next few weeks as well. The season starts in late-August. Meets will take place on Saturday mornings at various middle school sites over a two month period. We compete against teams from all of the other nine middle schools in Volusia. The season usually lasts eight or nine weeks. If you are interested in your son or daughter being on our Cross-Country team, please contact Coach Goddard as soon as possible. Aviation Club
Exciting news! Our afterschool Aviation Club is taking off, and we’d love for students to join us on this journey. The club is open to anyone curious about airplanes, flying, or the world of aviation. Together, we’ll explore aviation careers, hands-on activities, guest speakers, and even some fun STEM projects that bring flight to life. Whether you dream of becoming a pilot, an engineer, or just love learning about how things fly, this is the perfect place to get inspired and connect with others who share the same passion.
